Jesmond Dene House Wedding Photographer – Rachel and Matthew’s Day

wedding couple at Jesmond Dene House

Two of the best things about being a Newcastle wedding photographer, is meeting and working with lovely couples like Rachel and Matthew, and getting to capture wedding photography at Jesmond Dene House.

These guys chose the perfect venue for their winter wedding in Newcastle.  But I’ll get back to all the reasons why I love capturing wedding photography at Jesmond Dene House later.  Let’s start at the beginning of Rachel and Matthew’s day.

On the day, I woke to a rainy forecast and headed over to Rachel and Matthew’s house to catch up with Rachel to capture those all-important bridal preparation images.  Rachel was with her parents and her three sweet bridesmaids.

Rachel looked amazing in a gorgeous dress with a plunging neckline and full sleeves with a beautiful skirt that gently floated out giving Rachel an amazing silhouette.  It was the perfect dress for a winter wedding and really suited her.  Rachel’s look was complemented with a soft elegant up do for her hair and an elegant bouquet of white flowers with green foliage created by Mindenwood Floral Design, who did all the flowers on the day.

Before they headed off to the ceremony, I got some really lovely images of the bridal party.

The ceremony was held at St Mary’s Church in the pretty village of Stannington in Northumberland.  This handsome and historically rich Norman church dates back to 1190 and sits in a truly idyllic location.

I got there in time to capture a couple of images of Matthew and his grooms party who all looked very smart in tweed three-piece suits with sage green ties.

The rain really didn’t let up, but it did nothing to dampen any bodies spirits, as Rachel arrived under a large umbrella being held over her by her dad, who then walked her down the aisle.

The church all dressed for Christmas had a wonderfully cosy vibe and the ceremony felt so personal and special.  I captured a really cute image of Rachel and Matthew saying their vows with Rachel giving a really cheeky smile.  It was one of my favourite images of the day.  Here, take a look!

After the ceremony, Rachel and Matthew walked back down the aisle a married couple to applause from their guests, before enjoying a fun confetti moment outside.  Everybody then headed to Jesmond Dene House for the reception, with Rachel and Matthew travelling there in style in an army green Land Rover.

Now I get to talk more about why I love being a Jesmond Dene House wedding photographer!  This beautiful Grade II listed Georgian House is situated in Jesmond Dene, a woodland valley dotted with waterfalls and rustic bridges, in the fashionable Jesmond area of Newcastle.  It has been beautifully restored and reimagined as a stunning independently owned boutique hotel and award-winning wedding venue.

It’s a real favourite with Newcastle wedding photographers, as it offers us an endless supply of beautiful backdrops for wedding photos both inside and out.

On arrival, everybody enjoyed a drinks reception and I took my chance to get some great images of the wedding party as well as some romantic portrait images of Rachel and Matthew around the house.

The wedding reception was hosted in the Great Hall of Jesmond Dene House. This double-height room with oak paneling, a minstrels’ gallery, vast fireplace and lofty windows is an amazing space.  Especially when dressed and ready to host a winter wedding breakfast.  Everybody enjoyed a delicious meal, which was followed by some very well received speeches.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a gorgeous white three-tiered wedding cake, followed by a romantic first dance accompanied by a live band.  Who soon had the dancefloor full.

There was a break in the festivities for a sparkler moment outside.  I love sparklers at weddings, they bring a bit of fun at a point in the day when you think all the surprises are over, and they make for great wedding photos.

Whilst outside, I wanted to take my final image.  And the image of Rachel and Matthew under the umbrella with Jesmond Dene House all lit up behind them, felt like the perfect image to close the story of their amazing day.

I loved capturing Rachel and Matthew’s wedding at Jesmond Dene House.  A wonderfully family-friendly fun wedding full of love and laughter.  Congratulations guys and thanks for having me there, I loved it.
