As a North East wedding photographer, I get to capture wedding photography at some iconic wedding venues. And none are more iconic than our very own St James Park. Annette and Stevie chose the perfect location for their autumn wedding in Newcastle.
Large football stadiums make fantastic wedding venues, they have state of the art banqueting and hospitality onsite and offer couples a truly unique venue that includes a tour of the stadium. The experienced wedding team at Newcastle United pride themselves on creating unforgettable weddings for their couples and this was certainly the case for Annette and Stevie.
On the day, Annette and Stevie got ready at the luxurious four star Sandman Hotel that is situated just opposite St James Park. I got there early to capture a couple of bridal preparation images. Annette was relaxed, jovial and in the capable hands of hairstylist Leanne Hamilton.
I also caught up with Stevie and his grooms party, who were all looking very smart. Stevie wore a dark blue three-piece suit with a light blue jacket. And his grooms party wore smart grey three-piece suits. The boys were in great spirits and I got some images of them outside the main entrance of the stadium.

Annette looked stunning in an off-shoulder dress that elegantly skimmed her frame and fanned out at the bottom giving her an amazing silhouette in all of my images. She teamed it with a full-length veil and a beautiful bouquet of white flowers with green foliage. And she beamed all day. Us Newcastle wedding photographers do love a smiley bride.
Tradition states that it is good luck to see a chimney sweep on your wedding day and Annette and Stevie were lucky enough to have their good friend Ian the chimney sweep from Chimney Sweeps North East at their wedding as a guest.
The wedding ceremony was held in the stylish Four Corners Suite and Annette was walked down the aisle by her brother. The ceremony included live music from saxophonist Andrew Taylor.
After a lovely ceremony which was full of laughter, love and lots of kisses, everybody enjoyed a drinks reception and I took my chance to get some classic portrait images of Annette and Stevie around the stadium as well as some great group images. We were given special behind the scenes access which delighted Stevie as he’s a lifetime toon fan! My favourite image was of the entire wedding party with the pitch in the background. Here, take a look!
The wedding breakfast was hosted in the Sir Bobby Robson suite that had been dressed exquisitely for the occasion. Guests were delighted to be entertained by the singing waiters who sung during the meal with everybody joining in. The meal was followed by some really well received speeches by Annette’s brother, by Stevie and his sons.
Storytelling Newcastle wedding photography
Evening celebrations started with a romantic first dance for Annette and Stevie that included an impressive choreographed dance routine complete with lifts! The one and only Jersey Boys then performed live all evening and totally stole the show, making sure the dancefloor remained full all night. It was such a fun evening.
A wonderful wedding full of love and laughter at a truly iconic Newcastle landmark. Congratulations to Annette and Stevie for getting married and creating such an amazing day for you all to remember. And thank you for allowing me to capture and tell the story of it. I hope my images will allow you to relive it again and again for many years to come.
